Schubert Breiner

Schubert Breiner

Reflections about death, about vanity, nihilistic thoughts, disillusion, fear, anxiety, unending depression … states of mind, which accompanied the ingenious Franz Schubert after the year 1824 until his premature death in the year 1828. The composer suffered from the then incurable syphilis and this disease devastated him. In this regard the string quartet D minor about the meeting of Death and the Maiden is a significant title. None of the traumas of Franz Schubert oppresses Peter Breiner – the author with open and awakened mind and real musician’s heart. Also the title of his charming toast „to Mr. Bach“ expresses the nature of this composer.
