Solamente naturali – Christmas Concert 2017
At the peak of his career Johann Sebastian Bach composed several major oratorios. They include also the Christmas Oratorio from the year 1734. Bach applied in this extensive piece (ca. 80 minutes) the technique of the so called parody, this means that in the oratory he used themes and complete arias from his former musical pieces – mostly from the cantatas. The six parts of the oratorio represent the particular festive segments and it was the original idea to perform them during these six days: December 24th – 26th, and January 1st, 2nd and 6th.
